Sailor’s Log: Leg 8 is on!

I’m very happy to announce that I’m returning to the final leg of Clipper Race. Leg 8 leaves Washington, DC, on June 25th.  Elizabeth and I will be in Washington from June 19th to the 25th. The boats will be at The Wharf marina near the heart of DC. I will be crossing the Atlantic for the third time on this leg on the way to Oban, Scotland, where Elizabeth and our good friends Mike and Carol will meet me.  The arrival window is 12-16 July.  From there, it’s a short race to the finish at Portsmouth, England starting on July 21st.  The entire leg is 4400 nm and It should take about 24 days.  We will pass close by to the Flemish Cap, a fishing ground made famous by the book and film The Perfect Storm.  We will spend a few days sightseeing in Oban before the start of the final short race to Portsmouth. After the race finish in Portsmouth, we will spend some time sightseeing before returning to Nashville on August 4th.  We hope to take a ferry to France to see the battlefield at Normandy.  I want to say a very big thank you to some special folks at MPower in Nashville. Vanessa and Olivia in Physical Therapy and Alex, my personal trainer.  All three helped me recover from my injuries and be prepared for Leg 8. Thank you all so much for helping get my dream back on track.
